As I told you on Monday, my baby boy turned 1!  Yesterday I finally found the time to do a smash the cake session… total dud.  Mister does not like cake apparently.  I even waited until it was lunch time and tried putting it in his mouth… aaaand he would spit it right back out and yell at me.  See, I’m not much of a cake person either so maybe he has taken after me in that aspect.  I love the look of cake… the texture and sweetness of the frosting, not so much.  But, I did manage to get a few shots.

On Sunday we headed down to Oceanside for the first time this summer with our good friends. It was also Ashton’s first time at the beach. The weather was a tad cool but most definitely a nice break from the scorching temps we’ve had over the last week. We can’t wait to go back!

1.  First off, happy Friday!!  The week is almost over then we have a fabulous weekend together.  When I was working out of the house every day, before I had kids (eek, it’s been 6 years since I quit my last desk job) I looked forward to the weekends because I needed a break from work.  Many of you know that exact feeling.  That doesn’t change when you are a full time mom.  My kind of break is when the kids are in bed and asleep at night… but by then I’m totally exhausted and ready to go to sleep myself.  Now, the weekends are filled with help from my hubby!  So now my “break” is taking a shower by myself!  :)   But we also get to do fun things together instead of our regular routine of waking up grouchy kids for school, homework, workouts, etc.  Summertime is the perfect time of the year for fabulous weekends!  Yay for Summer!

2.  I went to the DMV this morning, dragging my feet all morning at just the thought of being there all day.  To my pleasant surprise, I was in and outta there in about 45 minutes!  Whoa!  And all I ended up needing was a renewal since I hadn’t been out of the state for long.  I never did memorize my CO license number… my CA number has been stuck in my head for so many years and I got it back.  Nice!

3.  Who can resist this giddy little smile?  Last weekend someone *ahem, her brother…* nailed her on the back of the head with a water gun.  Not a smart move.  He busted it open and she had to get two staples to hold it close.  We took her back a couple of days ago to get them removed.  Call me mean, but I made him stay in the room with us while she cried getting them out… I bet he’ll never do that again…Nicole Long Photography

4.  Next week is Ashton’s 1st birthday.  Well, more like 10 days from now.  Um, my last baby is becoming a toddler.  I’m torn on how I feel about this.  Anyways, be on the lookout for a smash-the-cake session with him.  Oooh, so much fun!!

5.  This weekend we are heading to the beach with one of our favorite families to enjoy some cooler temps, good eats and a lot of laughs.  Have a great weekend all!  Love!

Yesterday Ben and I took the kids to the Griffith Observatory.  I have been wanting to go for some time now and we finally found our time.  We arrived around 1pm and finally found parking after about 10 minutes of driving around.  We had to hike up the hill… oh, thank goodness for double strollers!  The kids had such a great time exploring!  I love the ages they are at right now.  Spending time together is still so much fun and the world around us is so fascinating.  We definitely will have many more trips there over the years.

Happy Monday!

The weather has been ridiculously awesome so far this summer.  Not what one would expect for July, that’s for sure.  If the whole summer was this nice, I’d be one happy girl.  Oooh, if the whole year was like this… niiiice.

This weekend was great.  We spent time with some of our favorite people for a few BBQ’s, great food and even some pool time.  Okay, so I have my excuses for staying out of the pool.  I mean, come on, who is going to take the pictures?  :)   And I can’t very well be by the chips and dip if I’m in the water, right?  Oh, the summer life.

My little lady rethinking her decision to step into that chilly water… I just love the tutu swimming suit…

Very rarely do I get a photo of all 3 of my kids.  Anthony gives me the fake smile, Amanda has to be bribed and Ashton crawls away… fast… but my lucky day came!  Even though they aren’t all looking at the camera, they were fully enjoying themselves.  And I love that.  It’s who they are.  This processing is very different from my usual stuff but I felt it fit this photo.

Happy 4th of July!  I hope you all enjoy this beautiful Independence Day with your friends and family.  Stay safe!  Love to you all!

Posted on June 6, 2010

And I’m tired. Ummm, maybe an understatement. I’m exhausted. Yes, that’s more like it. For one, as you can see, my blog has changed. This is now a blogsite. Yep, a blog and a website combined into one. I’m still working on a background that I like so for now, hopefully not much longer, it’s just plain black. I love this blogsite! I hope you do too. Second thing, I have a new logo. It’s not much different then the first but I needed something a tad different but with the same concept as the last as well as different colors. Thank you Sean for doing that for me! You are the best! Last, but not least, we have moved! If you didn’t already know this, might as well come clean now.

Things got a little crazy, busy the last month and I realized that I never did officially announce it, although many of you knew. My family and I moved back to SoCal. It’s home. This is where we lived before moving to Colorado but work has brought us back. For the last few months Ben has lived here while the kids and I stayed in Delta so they could finish the school year. The day before school was released for summer, Ben and our brother in law, Aaron, flew out, picked up a Uhaul and moved us that weekend. It was a long few months without our rock being around but now we are together as a family again and couldn’t be happier.

So now we are just trying to get back into our groove. Sometimes that is easier said than done. But we will get there. Anthony should be starting 1st grade next month (year-around school system still), Amanda starts preK this week and Ashton and I will be starting up with Stroller Strides, my most favorite workout of all times!

There we are. Now you know where to find me and all that jaz. :) Have a great Sunday everyone! Much love. **Muah**

This is me and my most favorite Grampa. Okay, he’s my only grampa but if I had any others, he’s still be my most favorite! He’s quite sick these days but still manages to put a smile on his face from time to time. This past weekend his best buddies came to visit so they took out the ol’ Harley. That bike has been around for as long as I can remember. I think he even has to kick start it! Maybe not… but I’m pretty sure that’s the case. While it was out we had a picture taken of the both of us on it. His buddy enjoyed playing with my camera. :) I can’t tell you if I’ve ever been on that bike… IF I have, it was when I was a toddler… my husband swears there is a picture floating around somewhere of me on it but I think he may be picturing one of one of my brothers. Anyhow, there is finally one of me that I will remember forever. I love you Grampa!

One of my good friends, Heather has a farm. Okay, maybe not a full on farm with a barn and all the animals, but she has some cows, goats, ducks, chickens, dogs and cats. That says farm to me. Anthony and her son are best friends and get along so well. Heather is such a beautiful, generous person. Her husband is just as awesome as she is. She is a giver and I appreciate her more than she’ll ever know.

On Saturday I took the kids and met up with her and her family, two of their baby goats and two baby ducks at the lake for some pictures. Ashton loved those ducks. He tried and tried to get his hands on them. When he finally did, he grabbed and held on tight so we had to rescue the babies from the grips of death. Yet, they kept coming back for more. They wanted to sleep in his lap, which was such a funny thing because by the time they fell asleep, he was done… he wanted no more of them.

The bigger kids had so much fun feeding the goats and cuddling with the ducks. Those goats sure were hungry! hahaha Thank you Heather and Neil for letting us enjoy some time with you guys and your animals. And thank you so much for having Anthony over to spend time with you before our big move. We’re sure going to miss you!!
